We must remember to thank God for small mercies. (PFEL)

So many times we have prayed to God to help us, and we forget to lift him up in praise when he answers our prayers. I am guilty, because there have been times in my life when I have forgotten to thank God for answered prayers, because my prayer need at the time was not significant. Stop right where you are and give God a praise; don’t think, just stop right where you are and give God a praise. You have been blessed in so many ways, but, did you stop to give God a praise? There were times when you were down, when you were standing on shaky ground, when your back was against the wall and you were just about to fall; something or someone picked you up and set you straight again. That something was Jesus, that someone was Jesus. If you did not know it then, you know it now, so stand right where you are and give God a praise. Thank you, Lord, for carrying me, when I was too tired to walk. Thank you, that you did not give up on me when I had given up on myself. (PFEL)

God will carry you when you are too tired to walk. There were times when I was so tired, so overwhelmed, that I wished for someone to pick me up, and God did. He carried me when I was too tired to walk. Your journey may not be long, but you could get tired easily carrying your troubles. God is always ready to take your yoke upon him and carry you, when you are too tired to walk. (Excerpt from Prayers for Everyday Living)

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in him. Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints! There is no want to those who fear him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack anything good. Come, you children listen to me, and I will teach you the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Be not wise in your own eyes, but we wise in the ways of the Lord. Depart from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it, for the Lord redeems the souls of his servants and none of those who trust in him shall be condemned.” Praise the Lord!

“Come, and let us return to the Lord, for he has torn but he will heal us, he has stricken but he will bind up. The time to repent is now for the day of the Lord is at hand.”

Now therefore says the Lord, turn to me with all your heart with fasting and with mourning, so rend your heart and not your garments, return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness, and he relents from doing harm. And it shall come to pass afterward, that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Joel 2

When you are not close to God, you are open to Satan’s influence. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you providing a covering for you.

We are walking in God’s way, yet, we are constantly under the attacks of the enemy, how much more then, if you are walking in your own willful way? You will be more ready to partake of the things of the world, the desires of your heart will be more enticing, waiting on the Lord is not an option, and daily prayer and meditation is out of the equation. But, how long will you allow the enemy to control you, why not allow God to guide you?  Draw near to God and he will draw near to you, providing a covering for you from the enemy as you walk with him. Situations will be clearer, and you can be assured, that when temptations round you gather, God will make a way for you to escape. Praise the Lord!

When God gives you a word, you cannot hold it back, for it will shut up in your bones, like a burning fire.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, many who are called by God to preach a word in season to those who are hurting, try to twist God’s word to be crowd pleasers. But, when God gives us a word, it was meant to be spoken without fear or shame, he said nothing should be added to it, or taken from it. Many will mock you, many will speak evil of you, and fear will come upon you, but know that if the Lord induced you, and you are persuaded, that he will allow nothing and no one to stop you from spreading the good news of Christ. The Lord’s assignment to Jeremiah was hard, he was told to prophesy to a people who had stiffened their necks and hardened their hearts that they might not hear the word of God, they tried to convince him otherwise, so that they may prevail against him, and Jeremiah became fearful and rebellious, and he cried out to the Lord saying, “Oh Lord, you are stronger than I am and have prevailed, you have induced me and I was persuaded, and I spoke the words which you gave to me and I was mocked and ridiculed, and I will not make mention of you anymore, nor speak of your name, but he said, his word was in my heart like a burning fire, shut up in my bones, I was weary of holding it back and I could not. “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” Praise the Lord!

When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord, I cried out to you O Lord, and my prayer went up to You in Your holy temple. Jonah 2:7

How many of us are driven to prayer when we are faced with trials and temptations? Very few. We are instead fearful and rebellious, we never take a moment to reflect on how we got to where we are, and if our disobedience to God is the reason; instead we look for someone to blame, we look to other sources for help instead of crying to God. When Jonah was in the belly of the whale, it was then that he remembered God, and he had time to reflect on how he ended up in that dark hole, he remembered God’s instructions to him, and he said, “when my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord and cried out to him and his prayer went up to his holy temple.” My brothers and sisters in Christ, when God has his hands on you, nothing but good will come of it. You will go through storms and come through them, you will go through fires and you will not be burned, you will go through valleys and dark hills and you will not get lost, for God is mysterious, he has his way in the whirlwind and the storm, you don’t know the path he will choose to get you where he wants you to be, just always be obedient to his call and he will provide a covering for you wherever you go. Praise the Lord!

Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations and in all the earth. Psalm 46:10

My brothers and sisters in Christ, what is God saying to you this morning, what are you hearing; what has he revealed to you? Have you been still in his presence, or are you so bowed down under the pressures of this life, that you see not or hear not? God is our refuge and our strength, therefore, we will not fear, for even though the earth be removed and the mountains be carried into the midst of the seas, we will be still and know who our God is. In the midst of our anxieties, his comfort will delight our soul, for the Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge; but, if we allow the anxieties of this life to be continuous storms in our lives, instead of learning to be still while the tempest rage, we will never experience the works of the Lord and exalt his name in the earth. When the strong tide lifts and the cable strains, when the tempest rage, be still and know who is your God,  who will not let you perish for the winds and the waves shall obey his will, so peace, peace be still. Praise the Lord!

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.” Praise the Lord!

“A man of sorrow and acquainted with grief, he was despised and we did not esteem him, but surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet, we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. All we like sheep are gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Who else could love us so much, that they would give their only son to bear our sorrows and our griefs? No one else but our God, who offered his son Jesus to die for our sins. He said in Isaiah chapter 53, that it pleased him to bruise him, to put him to grief, when we make his soul an offering for sin. And, he was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth, he was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before his shearer he was silent.” Many of us who daily grieve God’s holy spirit cry out so easily, we do not carry our yokes in silence, we complaint at every turn, but Jesus, who did nothing wrong, nor was there any deceit in his mouth, was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our in iniquities and for the chastisement of our peace. But, what do we give him in return? We backbite and rebel, we curse and hate each other, we are selfish and greedy, we are inhumane at best, but may God in his mercy, turn our willful and ungrateful and unrepentant hearts to him, so that we will give him the honor and glory due his name. Praise the Lord!
